Beacon Bay Therapy Talking

Discover The Approach

Beacon Bay Therapy provides a Talking Therapy service in North London and online, underpinned by a Person-Centred Experiential (PCE) approach. This modality, grounded in the humanistic tradition and strongly influenced by Carl Rogers’ person-centred framework, facilitates clients’ exploration of emotions, bodily sensations, and lived experiences within the present moment. Through techniques such as focusing and emotion work, clients are supported in deepening emotional awareness and constructing new meanings from their experiences. The PCE approach is recognised within the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines as an evidence-based intervention for depression in the United Kingdom, with a growing body of research substantiating its efficacy for a range of emotional difficulties. Reasons People Seek Counselling

People come to counselling for many different reasons. Sometimes there is a clear difficulty, and sometimes it’s a quieter sense that something isn’t quite right. You don’t need to have everything worked out before starting — counselling can be a place to explore what’s going on beneath the surface.

  • Anxiety
Feeling constantly on edge, overwhelmed, or caught in cycles of worry that are hard to switch off.
  • Depression
Experiencing low mood, emotional numbness, loss of motivation, or a sense of heaviness that makes everyday life feel difficult.
  • Low self-worth
Struggling with self-criticism, shame, or a persistent feeling of not being “enough,” often rooted in earlier experiences.
  • Life transitions
Navigating change such as relationship shifts, career changes, parenthood, loss, or periods of uncertainty and adjustment.
  • Emotional stuckness
Feeling blocked, disconnected, or repeating the same patterns without fully understanding why.
